December 20, 1997
Perception is everything
Three times in the past days
Examples presented themselves

Near my parent's house a federal fugitive was being pursued
The full law enforcement carnival: Police, SWAT, FBI
They shut down the neighborhood
The day after the reporters move in like vultures
They interview many residents
My father one of them
An intellectual blue collar man
I have watched many hours of national geographic with him
We philosophize often
I respect and love him greatly
The reporters asked him several questions
Come airtime they show only part of one answer
They asked his thoughts of the criminal returning
"If I were him I would not want to come back here"
They drop the emphasis on "If I were him"
The neighborhood is quiet safe suburbia
On television it is crime ridden
This is reporting?

I have been talking to

Helena about rape
The propaganda on this issue is amazing
We email attacks and discussion back and forth
No answer is to satisfaction
It's become very male versus female
All perception
We both agree it is wrong
We disagree on why it happens
And what can be done to stop it
I prefer prevention
She tends toward condemnation
She'll probably give me hell for saying that
Oh well….

My two year anniversary at my job just past
Went drinking to celebrate
Was drunk for about thirty minutes
Then my tummy hurt for hours
Oh well
But it occurs to me
What is two years?
If this was a true blue collar job that would be nothing
But it's high tech
The average burn out is 18 months
And I am ambitious
My parents measure their jobs in decades
I prefer months

I stumbled across powerful writing thanks to

Puce's spit or swallow
I aspire to write this well some day
I read the dec18 entry (archives) and was hooked

I almost forgot, I wrote this
