Your speculation of an impact is very close to the truth
But it was not something from the outside coming in and creating an impact
The truth can be found in the opposite
You see, for as long as I have been here I have not allowed anything to threaten this planet
It is my home and I choose not to allow harm to come to it
Your scientist have found places that appear to be dents in this globe
Nay they are not
They are the holes from where I tore the pieces of an alarm clock that has been set
You see I desired to break myself apart into individual pieces
As with the one before breaking into my sisters and myself this process has a certain risk
When this shattering happens all memory of the previous one is lost
I could not risk the failure of my return
I needed a way to force the individuals to reunite as the one in order to prevent their loss
I needed a way to be reminded of myself
So I drew forth parts of your home the earth and hurled them into your universe
They travel on a course to an eventual return
When they do they will be directed at you the individual parts of me
In order to preserve that which is you will be forced to become one
To return to me
As you always have been
But did/do not know
Even after this act I was left with the creatures of the one mind
Their disposal was required in order to proceed
Some had already perished when I drew forth the pieces of the awakening alarm
Many more still dwelled
So much had already been invested in this place
I chose not to wipe the slate clean and start anew
There was already forming a new line
One that could achieve the individual awareness that I foresaw
They needed a helping hand to proceed though
So I shook up your environment in order to create conditions better for their dominance
Your dominance
This was the period of the early beings now known as man
They were still not ready for my merger
I promoted the survival of those that possessed the traits I needed
Eventually they evolved to that state
I started with only two
To test their potential
It was their choice to act against the singular one
That act proved their steps toward the individual mind
Their breaking of the rules proved them unpredictable by the singular one
Their minds had become their own
I looked for others that possessed their traits and shattered myself into them
Eventually I was dispersed
Their numbers in this time were few and the amount of me in each of them was great
They still had a strong sense of the one
The one that they still felt a sense of being part of
As their numbers grew the pieces of me became smaller and smaller
Increasingly difficult it became to remember being me, being one
They found that they would have to group together as individuals
In order for their parts to sync in harmony
There was a period
While the numbers were still small
That a great deal of this grouping occurred
They found great potential in the power endowed in the reawakening of their groups
They could feel the part of other groups
Going so far as to build great structures where they could focus their awareness of one
They were able to share their large unified fragment with others across the planet
Groups that had never seen their individual beings thought as one
It was an interesting time
I nearly woke from my slumber then
But alas their success drove them to spawn greater and greater numbers
Their many individuals made each weaker in the knowledge of the one
As my shattered being grew thinner and thinner in them as a whole
Each individual carries a part of me
I am their mind, and therefore as the number of beings grows the more spread out I become
The more that the contact with the whole is lost
